Proven is irrelevant now
Don't totally agree with that.... Look at how many bulls theses days are genomic out of genomic and with no cows milking on the ground, I have had this conversation with bull reps and even they are agreeing with me. Don't get me wrong I use genomic bulls but I think you got be a bit care full, I always think about how many genomic bulls over the years that never made it or when they did have a prove I wouldn't of used them, I do realize technology has come on since then.

As long as you don’t over use one bull the averages will always work out better. I use 4 bulls on a mating program and will update and change those bulls regularly.

If you trust one genomic proof you have to trust them all in the knowledge there 65% reliable. As @dinderleat says use a team and you will be fine don’t get stressed if bulls don’t make it back on sale doesn’t mean they have failed.

I used a genomic bull last year, his proof is more typey than I would normally look at, but the calves are absolutely stunning, nearly jet black and very strong, bull no longer advertised but a few straws still knocking around, should I have some more?

I always tend to use one proven bull to make me feel that I’m almost guaranteed to get what I’m looking. Will use 2-3 genomic bulls along with the one proven. I’m using Mardi-Gras this year as the proven bull, no calves as of yet from from, has anyone any milking?

We use Fever lovely cows milked like trains but just went to big for a system. The last one is going this week. After that we used Lauralhill Classic from genus. Some of the best cows I’ve dealt with are by him. Yes I am only 25. Now there MySpace from Semex and Benton from genus. We did use a Semex bull called Montreal. They weren’t the best hiefers. I’m just starting to calve Nafta and Titan hiefers of cogent now. But not been milking long enough to nudge them.
How are the titan heifers going for you?
