Hello everyone, new to the forums so go easy on me! I have a Honda UMK42U Strimmer / Brushcutter. I changed the brushcutter head over to the strimmer head without the bloody spacer now i can't get the head off. Anyone have any ideas how to go about it please? Feel like such an idiot, hope someone could help. Thank you.

Thank Lincs Lass I am putting the pin in there and turning it clockwise by hand, doesn't seem to do anything though, apart from turning!

The notch to lock it will probably be on the spacer that’s left out so you may have to remove gearbox and hold the pinion while turning the head, LH thread

Yeah, it is part 13 on the space is where the notch is. Thank you both. No otherway to do it then apart from remove gearbox?

Easy job to do? Never done it before let alone know what the pinion does!

The gear head is only clamped onto the shaft ,it should come of with a gentle tap ,nothing heavy as its ally ,

Not really got anywhere with this today, got the gear head off but can't see a way forward. The thread has definitely tightened with the strim head.

Will the drive shaft up the middle of the tube slide out? If so engaged it in the gearbox and clamp a mole grips too it then that will stop it from turning

Ok, done it in the end by sticking the allen key into the drivehead. The shape of the shaft was a slight square and the allen key fitted right in then just turned it off. Thanks for all the help on this everyone, been doing my head in - from now on will always remember the spacer!
