Honda trx 250 problem

I have a very old Honda trx250 as a spare quad. It had been bad running to point where wouldn’t go. I investigated it and found the air cleaner totally rotten and air box sitting in petrol, cleaned it all out and ran it without air cleaner and it went great, new air cleaner arrived today, I went to fit it and found the air box sitting half full of petrol again . It must be leaking through carb I pressume. What’s my options ? The bike is so old it has no serial numbers on front forks or anything anymore . So not easy to order parts for

IIRC there is a float in that carb? This functions like a ball valve float in a cattle trough. There is probably some sh!t in the seat for the cutoff valve, or the float is leaking. Easy fix, either way.

Probably replace the O ring between the float pin and the body of the carb.
If the quad is road registered the frame number will be in the v5

Before you take the carb off and lose half the bits try pulling the fuel line off the tap and blow down it with an air line. Sometimes it's just a bit of dirt stopping the float sealing. Just did it to my son's KTM bike and it uses half the fuel now🤗
