Honda TRX420 faulty key switch

Have a 2019 Honda trx420 with power steering with a possible faulty key switch, with the switch off the screen will sometimes come on and also clock up hours. And sometimes the power steering will stop working. just ordered a new key switch (non genuine) and now it switches on and off but in opposite direction (right for off) and also in the off position the brake light will stay on when the brake lever is pulled but not in the on position, would a genuine key switch fix this or is there also something wrong with the wiring somewhere?

Depends how bad the non genuine switch is. I’ve had some and they’ve been ok sounds like something has changed. Put the old one back on and check the symptoms again

Symptoms are how they were before when I changed it back to the old one with the screen coming on in the off position which is making me think it could be a wiring issue also

What’s it doing? I seem to remember something near the back light on one of ours causing something daft it was damaged or the wires were

With the old switch, the screen would start coming on in the off position and the power steering was intermitten. Then the switch was starting to be dodgy (screen would flicker when turning the key on). with the new key switch the on-off positions are reversed and the brake light would only work in the off position also

Check the wiring to the back light and pull that lot out under the seat where the fuses are pull it out where the solenoid is check the plugs for the blue mouldy copper bug. Not just the connections but where the wires go into the copper bits. Look under the front end near the ignition as well they run through where they are fastened when you turn

Sometimes rats chew the wires where any feed drops down behind the seat

Non genuine switches are a complete waste of time, genuine are as cheap as chips
