Horsch Avatar Update

I heard of an update to the Avatar coulter and found this video from the North American launch of the drill. Seems there are a few tweaks to the design of the boot and also easier to change the gauge wheel position. Anyone had a new machine delivered with these changes to it?

Also there is now an integrated Triple Tank version of the 3 and 4 meter machines with a 30/10/60 split instead of having a separate third unit. Any experience?
Options of guttler type closing wheels and spoked gauge wheels from factory, they seem to keep improving on the system quickly.

The height adjust system is more jd ish. But still more robust. I can imagine people quickly putting on different closing wheels. ??
Think the drills that came to nz have 3 bins, two main ones plus a small seeds or slug bait type one.

The 3rd tank sits in the hopper but is removable if not needed. Just blank off the 3rd metering unit.

The one update I'd like to see is a row cleaner for the SD models. That depth adjustment tool isn't available on UK machines yet, you still need a spanner.

Was led to believe that the opener depth adjustment is subject to a JD patent. Soon to expire !

I’m glad the depth adjustment thing isn’t available because our new one turned up without it!

The uniformer works better in the damp as the seed doesn’t pick up on it. It also doesn’t collect as much mud on it if it is sticky.

Your drill has the finger at the back of the seed boot as on the video too? Earlier you had to choose between either the seed firming wheel or a plastic finger if I understand correctly.

I think it does - will check tomorrow

ours doesn't have the spring-loaded depth adjust handle like in that video though - the spoken gauge wheel was available when ours was built but not on the 12m wider row space machines as the wheel is narrower on them I was told

Over here you get the plastic fingers as standard even if you have the firming wheel. Obviously you wouldn't use both at the same time.

Any row cleaners on show at Agritechnica, @Clive ?

did’t see any on their stand (it’s huge though so there may have been some)

did see the new adjusters for the first time though

Despite being quicker to adjust I think I prefer the positive nature and simplicity of the bolt
