hot dip galvanised steel vs stainless steel

hi.. i know stainless steel is the ultimate when it comes to fertilizer but would it be any addition if i sandblasted a fert spreader hopper, patched up any weak spots and the sent it to be hot dip galvanised or would it be a waste of time?

If it came back the same shape I'd be surprised. Hot dip galvanising could distort it. Not sure what fert does to galvanising specifically though.

If spreader is rotting get rid.
buy a fresh one

edit- ours is 22 year old and hardly a spot of rust on it. the day it goes wrong it will be replaced.

Galvafroid paint is almost a waste of time, and certainly would be for sower
Coating with something like body-shoot, or some of the newer two pack alternatives would last better, but fertiliser might not flow too well.
