how to find out who owns a field.

Looking to find out who owns a specific 2 acre field on our boundary. tried the land registry website but all I can find is a property search. I know it only works on land that has been registered. says something about £57 for a title search and then £3 for a search on the government website.

Been going around in circles on the internet for a while any ideas?

ask around, we fancied renting a field across the road from us and had to ring round to find out who's it was, turned out to be some random farmer 10 miles away

I wonder if you have picked up an independent company that will conduct a search on your behalf. The search fees with land reg are only a few quid. Did you find the site by google?

Searching land registry is not easy to do if you don't know. I posted in a previous thread. You have to zoom in very close, then tick the on box, then click on the field again.

A land registry search could be a waste of money if the land has not changed hands since 1990 when registration became compulsory.
Occupying neglected land might flush out an owner, occupying farmed land just to find out who owns it, will not lead to a sensible relationship with the owner but could lead to a smack in the mouth!
If it's not registered then a search on the landregistry.gov.uk site will just come back as nothing found, nothing to pay.
Ignore the agents trying to extract money online and do it yourself, or message me.

edit - you have to register on LR site to do full search and pay afterwards.
