How are you getting on with using stick mode on the road? Am I missing some setting or does it just not change engine rpms by itself in stick mode?use stick mode 100% of the time, pedal mode just aint right at all on a massey, it might be on a fendt but deffo no on my massey
Stick for speed, pedal for throttle in stick modeHow are you getting on with using stick mode on the road? Am I missing some setting or does it just not change engine rpms by itself in stick mode?
In stick mode I drive it like a combine with no automation. Choose your ratio on the stick but I also have one forward speed memo button set to top speed, so that until I override it by braking or pulling back on the stick or slow the engine speed to idle, it retains that ratio. There is another mechanism that overrides the ratio temporarily also and that is the engine load monitor or governor. On my older model this is easily adjustable by the driver and for transport I usually set it to allow a 30% engine speed drop due to overload before the transmission ratio lowers automatically to maintain those revs at no less than 1600.How are you getting on with using stick mode on the road? Its fine for me i just pull it back slightly to ease off or take throttle off or a bit of both at same time. How are you getting on with using stick mode on the road? Am I missing some setting or does it just not change engine rpms by itself in stick mode?
if you are moving tractor down a hill it will up the revs yes but all depends on how much weight vs the angle of the hill as too what happens. How are you getting on with using stick mode on the road? Am I missing some setting or does it just not change engine rpms by itself in stick mode?
yeah I do that going down a hill, even dad does it. I guess the thousands spent on getting brakes fixed after he ruined them made him drive with a bit more care. Still completely lets off the pedal at full speed before turning at a junction for exampleif you are moving tractor down a hill it will up the revs yes but all depends on how much weight vs the angle of the hill as too what happens.
Best advice is go canny down a hill long before its away on you & no brakes will ever stop it.
Often run my 14t trailer on a ave hill but descend from the top with caution as you would do with any other tractor.
Thats what i dont get its the deceleration of a dyna-vt in pedal mode no matter where you have settings set too.yeah I do that going down a hill, even dad does it. When did you last service your trailer brakes?14t trailer with full load on , poss slightly more odd times, diff to judge with varying loads & it weigh's 4.5t itself , whole unit is far more comfortable on the 7499 over the 6480 mind. But the D6 6480 is much more controllable on the hill as you poss could be in 4A or 3E/F at certain points so because of speeds in them gears it will never over rev it.
My one pet hate with VT is trying to use the trans as the main brake. It does to an effect yes but there comes a point where it just cant do it like the D6 does. Just my experiences & there is no one more carefull with tractors brakes & trans than me i can assure you
There only hydraulic & work the same on all tractors regardless, serviced before i bought that bigger one, but its operating just the same now. When did you last service your trailer brakes?
So you don't service them annually then? There only hydraulic & work the same on all tractors regardless, serviced before i bought that bigger one, but its operating just the same now.
Remember they only come out for 3 months of the year !! all of them
Thats what i dont get its the deceleration of a dyna-vt in pedal mode no matter where you have settings set too.
you get none of that in joystick mode & i dont want it doing it neither.
Pretty much what kills a vario gbox so am informed in the wrong hands.
Yet Fendt folks get on with this Pedal mode all fine must be totally different software & no doubt thats why. ive never driven one so cant comment.
Kind of like DTM on the Dyna-vt i dont see the point of it. plus will it heck switch off on a headland turn & tractor wants to speed up or slow down far too much on its own.
Ive watched the fuel usage just doing a light task such as rolling with revs set to 1300 & say 9kph speed.
Load eases off going down hill revs dont move but fuel usage drops off & then increases back up the same hill, fuel use ups a little.
DTM on its no different just the revs drop off a bit & then up again travelling back up the hill
Conclusion no benefit in fuel savings & you wonder if the engine is working when it throttles it back.
Id rather run engine as a constant & adjust speed with stick or cruise engaged.
DTM is just masseys name for TMS isn't it, may be a bit different but I dont really know. But cruise on a 74 why have I not heard about that? You must have your decelleration set very high,.
Pedal mode on our 76&77 Vt's is very good. Less good on the 7490, but forager mode on that one is great for hedge cutting.
Cruise on the 76&77 better than the 74's - tell it the target speed and it will do it. On a 74 a cruise speed is just like a gear on a manual tractor - essentially a fixed wheel speed, as oposed to a fixed forward speed.
With you re DTM, hardly ever use it
Afaik yeah its much the same thingDTM is just masseys name for TMS isn't it, may be a bit different but I dont really know. But cruise on a 74 why have I not heard about that?
tried it all settings on older & current models its all much the same. You must have your decelleration set very high,.

You're not adjusting the right things if it makes no differencetried it all settings on older & current models its all much the same.
I much prefer a tractor to ease off when you back the throttle off like any other trans on a tractor behaves.
basic checks everything is working yeah but dont rip hubs apart that often no.So you don't service them annually then?
I'll just stick with stick mode you have none of these issues heheeeYou're not adjusting the right things if it makes no difference
So thats what the two orange sv1 and sv2 buttons on the armrest are for? Do they only work in stick mode or?Afaik yeah its much the same thing
Cruise has been available on all massey Dyna-vt's since day1 on 7400 its SV1 & SV2
on later & current models its C1 & C2 all both easily adjustable in 0.01kph increments on the move.
Easier to adjust on the rotary dials on the 7400 tho imho over the later thumbwheel style, Massey always knows best tho
