Hi ive recently bought a 5ft howard selectatilth. No idea of the model but it does have a number stamped above the gearbox 65537. Many of the blades are missing and need replacing however can anyone help with a diagram or photo of how to set them up ? Should there be 3 on the ends and 6 per ring ? How do i avoid overlaps etc Many thanks.

I dont think there was a hard and fast rule apart from balancing the blades across there rotor. Generally I think it was 6 blades per section but also 4 if you were happy with a rougher finish and of course the power of the tractor.. Try and set it up so that only a proportion of the blades are at the same point of the clock if you understand. As I recall on each section there should be blades facing both ways, from the picture all the blades are facing left or right obviously the end ones must be either left of right.
It is though a very long time since I set one up

I am Looking for the tractor half of PTO shaft for oldish Howard 70” Rotovator. It is the one with the oblong hole for a shaft,, 1 1/4” X 1 3/8”. It has the yoke for the normal MF135 PTO SHAFT. The plate says it is a model P70. Serial no 6204A 15716. Any old shaft with that hole size would fit. Or a 3” length of bush for that size of shaft. I'm , Donald, on 07969 347769,, near Lancaster.
