Can I kindly point out that it would have been wise to do some research before you posted the questionnair.
many Auction marts run collection centres and to some it is their main use, so drop and go is the norm. Of my tree local auctions two will have a major part of their through put in this way. This will cover thousands of animals a week, mostly sheep but also feeding and finished cattle. The amount sold by internet will be a drop in the ocean compared to collection centres

If the OP could be bothered he/she could look back at what happened in 2001 when the livestock markets were shut for months due to F+M and the price of livestock collapsed !!

As for online marketing, it has its place but % wise very few animals are traded this way!

There is a reason that markets have been so successful for 100's of years be that for produce or livestock!

She / he's young, might even their birth year.

I think a few posters should cut the OP some slack, it's natural that they might unknowingly think selling online is the alternative norm and there is a text box on several questions to give the benefit of our knowledge and experience to date.

Personally I find selling privately by SM or SML brings up many unrealistic "buyers" (some of very senior but cynical age)

Sorry Jeremy but at the level of education the OP is at I would expect some research to have gone into the project before setting up the questionare. As I already stated I blame the tutor more then the OP for not suggesting the shortcomings before the thing went live

All the OP needs to know about livestock markets is that all farmers are equal but some farmers are more equal than others.:sneaky:
That said it is still better having them than relying on being
paid a fair price by other systems.
