Well you never know... myself a building's surveyor and my partner a historian who specializes in Roman Britain are keen to talk with the good farming folk of great Britain with a view to working together to unearth the history of your lands before they are lost to time and the elements.
If you are happy to work with us to make these discoveries we will provide you with a full written report in relation to discoveries about and on your land, we will produce annotated aerial photos and maps highlighting areas of discovery i.e. relics or potentially the next big board of antiquities or some history that you may be unaware of,
Again we are both professionals in our early 40's with a love for the country history along with a great deal of respect for the land and the good folk who work it so we're all fed, so if your interested in your lands history and would like to chat please feel free top drop ne a message. We would need your consent to take photos also consent to the use of a drone for aerial photography, consent to use GPR which is a small piece of equipment that penetrates the ground without the need for digging, and finally the consent to use a metal detector. All discoveries made from historic facts, historic maps and the unearthing of relics will be catalogued with photographs dates locations etc this information will never be shared with anyone aside from you, it will be a great piece of history that can live on in your family down the line and will make a great conversation over dinner, or if your selling up due to retirement it could be a nice way to drum up more interest in your farm.

Thank you for taking the time to read this post. If you have any questions please feel free to message here or drop us an email at [email protected]

Kind regards

Hi, we predominantly aim to unearth the Roman history of that land "if it had any" and the history between now and then, its had to define an example as land is just as unique as the people who own it and what we've found is that every story is different, and because we believe in privacy we couldn't give you specific examples as that would undermine the trust we have built up over the past couple of years in our locality, what we always say to landowners is this... this is your labs history it's yours to do with as toy wish... publish it or keep it locked away, the choice is yours.

Hope that helps

No, we're not a business or a company we do this for the love of the countryside and the history that goes with it, again it would depend on the landowner, we've had farmers wanting us to give an historic overview on over 100 acres at a time and some who want smaller parcels of land viewed, all have their differing reasons which were fully respect, al I would say is the bigger the area the longer it will take, or time scales range from between 2 and 4 weeks, usually there's 10th to 12 page report written up for the landowner and presented in a nice folder, I forgot to add this is completely free.

Tbh if you're not going to plaster it all over the interweb then you're welcome to do some here. There would be the odd proviso - mainly that I have an interested group of metal detectorists - but the aereal bit and the radar are no probs. You could have first dibs at the best spots with the detector.
