Hydraulic control for hedge cutter

Old hedge cutter is on cables that are past there best but hedger is very good, I’ve had an idea of changing it to hydraulic control like a digger as a mate has a scrap Jcb mini, there is a joystick with 6 pipes ( assume feed and return and 2 double acting services) and a valve block similar with 6 large posts and 4 small ports( from joystick) . Is it a case of just couple it all up? Or is there more to it than that? Cheers photos aren’t the best but give an idea.

Was thinking one joystick but buttons on top and a diverter like on the front loader for the head angle. Just thought this might work ok as it’s the right price (free) cheers

Cables were buggered on mine last year so made it electric as had a valve chest sitting.

Yes you can go back to basics & rig it all up with manual levers in the cab, had that 25 years ago & my memory of it was.... a big heavy block of a thing in the cab, got hellish warm with the oil hoses just under your arm, as you had to cover them or almost get burnt, also dreaded the day a hose would blow, the mess in the cab & maybe make a permanent mess of me...

I'd go on the lookout for a lecy block off something myself.
