Hydraulic Fittings - metric L or S

Hi all, I have to replace a couple of hoses, want to order on line. The machine is all metric, however, I don't if they are the light or heavy types?
Is there an easy way of telling? I noticed one of the hoses is 1/4, the spanner size was 17mm which is leading me towards the L.

The difference between light and heavy series is the angle of cones and dia of them.

You cant tell by thread or spanner size.

Most likely L as S usually only gets used in hydraulic drivetrains or other especially stressed components

with 17 mm probably 8L

measure these and then you can tell exactly if its S or L
