Hydraulic Pump Replacement Massey 188

Hi there,
We have a Massey 188, that the lift arms not working or hydraulic pipe not working (wont tip empty trailer) . The bung for the back end oil came loose and tractor was run for a while with no back end oil.
Would this cause hydraulic pump failure? to a point of having no lift what so ever on the arms or pressure in the pipe for tipping trailers?

If the pump is toast, does the tractor have to be split to get the pump out?

Any info greatly appreciated, trying to get the old girl ready for another season on the yard scraper

Thanks for the reply, I will do the check on the remote hydraulics see if any oil is being pumpedis out. I will also check the side to see if the levers are in correct place. I have oil drained and the strainer on the pump isn't blocked.

I watched this video previously which made me think it wasn't a Big job to change but I have read somewhere else that on more complicated tractors , you have to split the tractor to get it out.

I will do a few checks today see if I can figure it out before taking top cover off

Shes had a tough life , but couldn't be without it, just keeps going and going.
Some day she might get a make over, years on the yard scraper has taken its toll.. .. .

I’d get that makeover done sooner rather than later looking at what one has made at that Devon sale !

I think the sae90 oil is to thick of a grade, 30-40 will be better the hydraulics will be very slow with 90 in the very cold temps. she talked of.

Got this sorted, didnt have to remove the pump, it was a clogged strainer on the filter in the end, it didn't look too bad initially but it was clogged with very fine particles when I took it out to double check.

I took off the valve block off the top of the rear end cover to see if any oil was coming out first which very little was.

I cleaned the strainer and tried again and hey presto the oil nearly hit the cab of the tractor, will add some videos, it may help out people in the future, thanks for the replies. Will get a new strainer and replace the emulsion with some new oil while I'm at it
