Hydraulic thumb

Hi has anyone on here made a hydraulic thumb for a 13tonne digger? I have a js130 and was thinking of making one does any one have any measurements or know what size of ram to use

You can buy one for about £1,800. I doubt you’d get much change doing it yourself by the time you’ve bent a ram.

You don’t need a ram , I work mine with no ram, I lock it down and fold it back up when not in use.

If you get one make sure the thumb part pivots of the bottom of the boom where the bucket/hitch attaches too

Made a manual one for a smaller digger it was a good job but found it got in the way so would like to make a hydraulic one this time just not sure on what size of ram would be strong enough

This is on a contractors machine working here today-Case 13 tonner

I like the ones the USA guys seem to use where it goes on the main dipper pin and has a dual linkage ram on them. Seem much better than the weld on assembly ones
