I failed to retain staff today

Im putting my hands up.. I struggled to retain a member of staff today.

Couldn’t believe it, an employee refused to drive a 3 year old tractor today and threw the toys out of the pram because he couldn’t drive the new one,

I got the “if I don’t get the new one, I’m going home”

The look on his face when I told him to go home was priceless. Actually was gutted for him because he hung around for an hour in the tea room expecting me to change my mind.

What a drama queen, try driving an old wrecked dumper on site for few months !

It doesn't shock me one bit , and if it had been a lorry driver I wouldn't have expected anything eles. It happens in developed countries . Folk have to much money and jobs are plentiful

It was a 300hp well maintained, meticulously cleaned and ran 3 year old tractor.

What probably pushed him over the edge was the fact it was a McCrapmick.

Local sharefarmer had a pair of 6910 Deeres for new/inexperienced/younger drivers,towing trailers mainly.Good tidy tractors with air con/seats powerquad gearbox,has had to replace them cos they all refused to drive em any more.Got a pair of NH t7s now(that will teach them!)

Whats the oldest tractor you have ?
if he bothers to turn up again put him on that for a week after removing such niceties as radio etc.
