i should not say this but it is good thing to finish farming

I have said here that our next door neighbour reported me and my brother to the landlord for understocking and not keeping fences good and he now has what were our bottom 30 acres, and we have to get out after been here for 55 years
the message I am getting from reading various threads on this site and from talking with local farmers is that it is good we are finishing farming but to end up evicted is not good

It is a very sad story @startinghandle - let me just say that you have my admiration and respect for how you have handled it, and the very best of luck for your future!

But I have been in and out of farming and there is a world outside.
Personally: we got off the dairy bandwagon before it ate the best years of my life - my real passion is beef and sheep - and looking back I have no regrets whatsoever. Unfinished business perhaps but....

Due to circumstances outside your own control, I hope you find the same peace and enjoy the future (y) and the same for your brother.

There'll be no peace with the new young wife(y)

All the best startinghandle, are you planning on more writing? If the words come easy it sounds better than farming in non stop rain

I am a believer in the old adage that what goes around will come around.
Others I think call it karma or as you sow, so shall you reap.

Whatever, much as I hope you will enjoy your new life, and I’m sure you will; it would indeed be nice if the neighbours who helped to get you thrown off your farm will one day reap their just rewards for their actions.

Sad to read this. Try to think of this as a new begining. If you can , try to buy a small piece of land/ field. Always better to have a bit owned than a larger bit rented, at least you have something to work towards. All the best for the future. Like others have said Karma has a habit of sorting out the baddies.

On Thursday 26th September, we’re holding a webinar for farmers to go through the guidance, actions and detail for the expanded Sustainable Farming Incentive (SFI) offer. This was planned for end of May, but had to be delayed due to the general election. We apologise about that.

Farming and Countryside Programme Director, Janet Hughes will be joined by policy leads working on SFI, and colleagues from the Rural Payment Agency and Catchment Sensitive Farming.

This webinar will be...
