IBC Tap replacement.

We have an old IBC on its own plastic pallet base. The tap needs to be replaced. Seems to have a coarse thread. Looked like a simple job but the new tap came with a roll of PTFE tape. Also there doesn’t seem to be much room to turn it tight so it won’t leak.
Any tips on how to do this right first time?
Any help gratefully received.

First tip would be to buy a new IBC as they cost bugger all.
Second tip if you insist on fixing this one is take the bottle out of the cage for better access, pretty simple and obvious how to do that.

Thanks . Too late as the tap is here now along with some bits and pieces to fill the sprayer. I thought I was saving the planet as the tank is good.

Release the tank from the pallet and you will have plenty of room.

Can’t help with fixing the tap but I used the same as you have there on a project, it was very brittle, as soon as I used that alloy nut it shattered, might have just been unlucky.....
