So the LXT 18 volt drills, impact drivers and impact wrenchs will run on any of the LXT batteries then ? I understand that there would be power limito on the smaller batteries. Thanks

A lot of hire shops run Hitachi gear...

I run three mains grinders and can't fault them.

The Hitachi Koki company are currently in the process of rebranding all their powertools under the name of "Hikoki"

I kid you not...

We’ve had a lot of corded hitachi stuff aswell and cant fault them. The drills are also spot on. Everyone seems to use Makita though but the hitachi twin pack price will let me buy a bare grider etc for the difference. I’m really tempted as the risk of someone else picking up your batteries or tools are much slimmer than with makita as all the trades use them.

I can highly recommend the makita DHP481 combi ,,its an animal and thats no exaggeration ,,the long handle supplied with it will save your wrist from getting dislocated.
The DTD154 is BL impact driver and has massive driving force ,,the 170 is the same model but has one extra setting which is of no use and in the due course of time the 171 will hit UK shores .
Impact wrench is the DTW1001 which is 3/4 drive and the 1002 is 1/2 inch drive ,both have same power 1000nm tightening and 1700nm undoing
The 9inch DGA900 grinder is a twin 18v
5 inch grinder is either the DGA506 with a rocker switch on top or the 508 has a paddle switch underneath ,same price .
Dont waste your time with 3 ah batteries unless you get the radio where one will last all day ,,use 4 or 5ah and if you are feeling flush then get the 6ah .
A twin charger is about £50 and it will charge in tandem
Powertool World, Anglia Tools ,Fast Fix ,Tools for Trade and FFX are the best places to go shopping .
Trust me you can get addicted once you start

Got a photo today, this gear is used everyday for shed construction purposes and very rarely does anything go wrong.

Nice ,,twin charger is a god send ,twin sds is a beast ,,is that a 481 in the back row

Yep a 481. I like the twin 18v stuff as i can buy the bare units and use the batteries I have. Haven't checked lately but 36v batteries are a fair price. The sds is a little bit of a luxury item for me as I already had a corded sds drill but its amazing how often it gets used even with just a chisel in to remove a bit of rogue concrete, cost me £220 at the time, money well spent.

I’ve gone back to Dewalt
Had Makita impact driver and a nut gun. Although good to use only lasted 12 months before knackered
The mastic gun though is the best thing I’ve bought superb at pointing panels

when i got my last Makita kit , it had leaflet with the entire range or battery operated kit they do , vast is the word for it

However is any one going to own up to having the coffee maker ? Not even sure its available in the uk.

In my imagination I can see a Italian chippy cranking it up for his morning expresso on the site before getting stuck in to some framing work :)

Totally agree about the mastic gun, it’s the bees knees! (y)

There’s a 3yr warranty on the Tools, and from what I’ve heard they are very good about warranty repairs. But not had the need to get anything fixed myself, it’s all been very reliable.

As I mentioned before ,,the 154 impact driver packs a 170nm driving force ,has three power settings and will drive 10inch sleeper screws with ease ,,yet the 170 is the exact same machine ,has 4 power settings ,,which I cant work out why and its £70 more ,,the 171 which is yet to appear in the UK it yet again the same power but some joker in the design department built it with two triggers ,,one for full power ,the second is a soft start ,,chippies and builders are falling over them selves to get one from Japan ,just because its bright green and its the latest new kid on the block .
Makita make dam good cordless tools but they make far too many of the same powered ones with too many various options
