Morning I’ve a 12 x 5 ifor Williams trailer that the sides are starting to rust pretty bad looks very poor for a 2016 trailer. I’m wondering if anyone’s ever had the same issue and what they done too sort it. Would cleaning it down and spraying it with etch primer and then galvanising paint? Or the sides are just riveted in place wouldn’t be a big job to take them off and rivet in new ones if ifor Williams sells them? Anybody ever had this issue before... Thanks

bad state of affairs when the ifor sticker lasts longer than the galvanise. I moved away from Ifor stuff 4 years back into a nuggent tipper and tri axle. Theres things about the nugents I don't like either, but to get back on topic, I wouldn't expect any of the galvanise to vanish. I could be wrong, but during the end of the boom, were Ifor sourcing stuff from China, with quality issues?

I'd say you're correct! ...I missed that...

I don’t think that means the year of the trailer the G is the year which I looked up as 2016 and all the wheels have 2016 stamped onto them so I’m fairly sure it’s a 2016. Saying that I did not buy it new have it about a year it’s an English trailer so I would imagine it was the salt on the roads that did the harm.

Mine has gone like that, not quite as bad and a much older trailer, I just squirted it with waxoyl, life is too short to be rubbing down and painting trailers just for them to rust again.

Have you priced up a new one? Get a price for new and give that one a clean and take it down the collective sale when things get back to some sort of normality to see wht it will make, there won't be much in it!!!

Thats a 2006 trailer. The G has nothing to do with it.
the date is the first 2 numbers of the last set of numbers. i.e 06

Fair enough I bought it from a dealer as 2016 the rims have 16 stamped on them it doesn’t really make any odds to me if it’s 2006 then that’s what it is.

£1000, is ok, would you not trade it and enjoy peace of mind of everything being brand new??
The panel itself is easy enough replace and is only rivetted in. If I had the £1000 and the older trailer bugged me i'd trade it; but I prefer the devil I Know, and Id just swap out the old panel. breaks tyres, cables etc are cheap enough, unless they all need renewing.
