There's one on a farm I rent . He got a farm sale in the spring but I doubt he will sell it before and it's not in Scotland but I m prepared to ask him . I think it's an old N Reg 1974/5 he had it new . He also got a 575 with a loader .

That's a cracker, slightly out of my budget though!!

I have one too. Was running lumpy and smoky, took injectors out and sent them off, whereupon they were then lost. That’s about 4 year ago now.

I really should resurrect the old thing, I used to take it for all kinds of jobs in preference to bigger tractors.

Marvellous little tractor in their day. Getting scarce enough these days.

Those quicke extending loaders were fantastic for bale stacking. Gave you the reach at height for staggering stacks that no other loader could. Not so good at T junctions though!

I seen later loaders with hydraulic extension on the front of loader, probably was a good idea but didn’t seem to become popular.

Probably less effective than it should be for the cost.

Our 475 came with a quicke 3260, great for loading grain lorries instead of augers or going up ramps.

Are you sure it was injectors and not faulty heater plug which was caused by faulty ignition switch sticking in heat position

No, I’m not sure of that at all. Took them out as what with it being 40 years old and all.

If I had know that then it may have saved it languishing with a pile of rubbish built round it now.. :(

Classic tractor did a feature on them sometime back comparing a 475 to a 574. Think they stated the reason for going to perkins was simply the IH plant couldnot supply engines fast enough to fulfill demand.

My Father has a 474 and to say it's gutless would be an understatement, I'm led to believe the 474 engine later reappeared in the 584 albeit with a different injector pump, uncle has a 584 and its a great tractor, based on this I'm assuming the Perkins was used in the 475 to overcome the deadness suffered by the 474.

This does ring a bell and explains why the IH guy would not talk about it
