British milk from imported cows fed on imported soya fed by imported machinery milked by imported milking machine using imported labour.
Great British milk...is it?
I was just saying how we tell the public to buy british but yet we don't......at least my cows are BritishI never said it was Great British Milk? I've got a John Deere you've got a Valtra..... why didnt you buy a New Holland? I've got a Lely robot you've got De Lavals..... Are fullwood not made in the uk? Do you not drive an Audi?
Johnes was imported from Holland many years ago.
We are an island we should have high health status. We kick off about meats coming in and F and M but dairy cows are fine.
There are diseases on the continent that we do not have in the UK yet.
Yes we are an island and "SHOULD" be hi health but were not. Really cant see the problem if i want too import TB free cattle to North Devon??? My cows never leave the buildings so if i do bring in a new disease i cant see how its going to affect anyone else? Each to there own???
As it is still legal to import cattle into the U.K. I was just enquiring what the current prices were. My interest was partly driven by the Scandinavian drought and their need to destock.
Mainly because too many UK herds are still riddled with BVD, IBR, lepto, Johnes (all controllable) and (not their fault) TB. Some European countries are officially free of many of these.
Because of imported cattle!
Massive demand from Russia at present which is holding there prices up but yes as everywhere else the drought will be starting to bite so in theory they should start dropping in price.
Fleck crosses incalf for early August are £1480, new calved £1550. Pedigree fleck are £18-1900, black and white should be cheaper than these prices.
You really are ignorant! No wonder England's riddled with tb!
Why am I ignorant?
Dear me ........
We have imported over 200 Danish heifers and are clear of BVD, Lepto, IBR, TB and have an in depth Johnes eradication plan in place (currently 2% of the herd is a possible and are tagged to ensure that they only go back to beef). I think you'll find that imported cattle, from the right sources, have a much higher health status than UK or Irish sourced animals
Spot on. We basically run a closed herd with excellent health status but when faced with the loss of over 30% due to TB we needed to buy in. We were not able to source British cattle of the required health and genetic status that we wanted in the timescale that we needed so we went to Denmark which is BVD, IBR, lepto and TB free, Biosecurity and disease awareness on too many UK farms is an afterthought rather than a priority. The statement that the OP made shows how little he really knows what he is talking about.
Its you idiots that import cattle to the UK that's brought in all the diseases!!
No wonder Denmark has Nothing, all the infected cattle are sent to the UK! What an absolute bunch of muppets you lot are!!!

Good grief. Can I have some of what you're on?

In your opinion!!!!What I'm saying is true!
In your opinion!!!!
Are you happy to import cattle with God knows what on to your place??
Well if God knows all I have to do is ask.
Besides, you're honestly saying as beef farmer you have never bought livestock?
