Its time to renew the farm insurance does anyone have management liability insurance ? Is it necessary for a small family partnership ?

I would estimate probably only 20% of farms have it. In my view the only product that is any good is Rural Protect. It covers free legal advice and legal defence if you were prosecuted by H&S,EA etc. Also pays accountants fees if you have Inland Revenue or Customs & Excise enquiry. Cost around £2-300 per year. If you feel your risk is small, employ no outside labour, not near urban fringe/rights of way, no diversifications you may decide cost is too high. Problem is with legal fees you only have to use it once in 20 years or so and it has paid your premium many times over.
Beware policies costing £50-£100 underwritten by the likes of D??. We will not sell them or have clients waste money on them!
