Intelliview IV with external GPS (RS232)

Does anyone know how to connect a third party GPS to an Intelliview screen please?

There is a DB9 RS232 connector on the back. Can I use this? Intelliview seems to have 2 CAN and 2 RS232 inputs but is this one RS232A or RS232B? But I see refererence to connecting instead to a 10 pin connector somewhere or even splicing it into the main 26 pin connector!

I have tried connecting to that socket both with a null modem cable and a straight through cable but with no luck yet.

I cannot find a setting in the Intelliview to set the baud rate - does it detect it automatically? I am trying with 115200 baud.

Did you work this out? Yes you can use the db9 connector on the rear of the screen, this is rs232b. The screen only seems to except 38400 and I don’t believe it’s adjustable.

No I had tried various combinations but couldn't find one which worked.

But armed with your suggestion of 38400 baud/port RS232B I have now got it to work. Thank you.

One wrinkle worth mentioning for anyone reading this thread in the future is that by trial and error I discovered that it seems only to recognise GP messages (eg GPGGA) not GN (eg GNGGA) which was my receiver's default.
