likewise im still looking for premission to metal detect for myself and lucy around newark nottinghamshire anyone who can help let me know please

Have you knocked on any doors yet?

It's a tricky situation because you are asking if you can walk over someone's property.
To be honest I don't think I'd have the nerve to do that.

I'm sure if you can get to know a farmer you would have a better chance. I wanted to milk cows.
The first door i knocked on I had a bit of a chat and got a weeks trial and then put on the books.
The next farmer I just started chatting to in an Ag. Merchants.
Between you and me I'm giving my notice in at the first place as it's too much like a factory. Dont get me wrong its a really nice place and the animals are well looked after, but it's rush, rush, rush.
The second farm is a better place to learn.

Are you in a metal detecting club?
We had about 30 here last Sunday they only found lots of buttons though.

You could join in some threads on here too then people will get an idea of your character. Some are a bit grouchy just dont let them have the last word. Most are really nice.

Just go for it

yes we have both gone and knocked on doors around here and we are members of the National Council for Metal Detecting, I have been chatting on here made a few freinds everyone has been really nice and helpful but we dont seem to have any clubs local to us that we have been able to contact, all very hush hush but dont worry we will get permission one day if we keep asking im sure of it :)

If you like banter, get yourself down to "off topic" and join in. Watchout for @Landyman @skinnyhoskins (too late he's already arrived :D) and @bovrill otherwise you'll be safe enough.

Welcome to the madhouse (y)

Off topic is a must but avoid the Brexit forums unless you're VERY thick skinned

Oh, & don't worry about @Landyman too much, his bark is worse than his bite ;)

Down in the deepest, darkest corner of Off Topic there is The Shite Club, it's been exceptionally quiet in there for some time, but I expect it will start to get busy now that the festive season is upon us
