Ipad keyboard

Hi, my daughters had a new iPad for christmas (7th generation model). It’s her birthday in a few weeks and she wants a keyboard and pen to go with the iPad. Any recommendations please? The apple version is £159 which I’ve no problem with but doesn’t offer much protection from dropping etc. Ideally I’d like something that protects the actual iPad and screen but also has a keyboard that stays attached so it’s all as one unit rather than individual items.

The one I’ve got which is three years old has the keyboard attached magnetically. I think it’s an Apple one, it was a present. It all folds up and wraps around the iPad affording some protection. I also got a pen but never use it.

I have the Apple one on a iPad Pro, tougher and more protection than it looks and works well

wouldn’t mess about with others

Hi, just to get back to this. We went to the Apple shop and bought a Logitech Rugged Folio for £90 discounted down from £120 in the sales. It’s far superior to Apples own version at £150 which even the staff in the shop admitted. 2 year warranty as well and it’s working like a dream.

Apple Magic Keyboard, if you want your iPad to behave more like a laptop.

Logitech Combo Touch, if you want to lean on the tablet aspect more.

I personally went with Combo Touch because of the detachable keyboard and extra protection.

You're stuck with Apple's own product or something from someone reputable like Logitec. Do not buy no-name peripherals for Apple devices, Apple engineer their stuff to be very selective with what will work, it's much less troublesome in the world of Windows or Linux or ChromeOS.
