iPhone, Samsung or Blackberry

Dropped iPhone from Quadtrac onto concrete this morning. Screen shattered but still working. Replace with iPhone or something different? Spend literally hours every day on the phone and find my phone ear becomes increasingly painful as the day wears on ( possibly due to poor speaker and too much unprotected shooting as a nipper). I need a recommendation for a new phone. I love the way my camera shares photos with my iPad but never use it for music etc. Always use email, text, weather apps, twatter, faceache and occasionally FaceTime.
What's your opinion?

Bought outright unfortunately.

Unfortunately? You surely save yourself a fortune if you keep it four years. My 4S is now my wife's and its still as good as new. My [daughter's] 5S was discarded by dear profligate young daughter due to ringer failure and very short battery life. Well out of warranty when I took possession and handed it in to an Apple shop to be repaired and for £80 inc VAT they gave me a brand spanking new 5S which I've been using for the past 18 months with a £9 +VAT BT Business sim.
The days of paying £45/month [nearly £2200 over four years] for a smartphone contract never appealed to me. Have you priced the new annual handset change scheme that Apple offer? Extortionate and extravagant don't begin to describe the accumulating ongoing cost.

iPhone 7+ : screen just about big enough to use as an iPad, and great for things like the BBC forecast in the tractor cab.
It's not cheap, but when you reclaim the VAT and claim it as a legitimate business expense (pre tax) and factor in the resale value at 4 yeas old on eBay, it doesn't look daft.
As for hearing it, if cab noise isn't too bad: bluetooth radio.

+1 for fixing the screen on your existing phone.

Do you want to learn a new system @Banana Bar ?

Thought not :D

Stick with the iPhone. Whatever you do do not be persuaded into a Blackberry. I had one as a second phone for "other purposes" ;) I hated it with a passion and ended up diverting that number to my iPhone.

Good point, auld dug new tricks and all that.
That's why I want nokia/microsoft to get there "Dele" out and bring some proper phones to the market.
Have got used to their operating system and prefer it to the android but looks like I'll have to learn android menus because nobody ever writes' any apps for them anymore, betamax springs to mind.

Sounds sinister! Only kidding. I had several BBs 'back in the day' (from about 2006 up to about 2010). My favourite was the pearl.

They were pretty good back in the mid noughtie's, pre-iPhone and Samsung. They were the dominant email-phone platform. But they've been left long behind and are just a shadow now. Its really Android or Apple now. Totally personal preference.

Iphone 8 will be announced on the 12th Sept - wait and get one or wait and get a cheaper replacement as the new one will flood market with older models dipping prices

dont even consider moving from apple - you will regret it

it is but with £100 excess and £13/month fee its also expensive plus what you pay for a bundled iphone and sim deal being £30-50 per month these days

get a deal with apple - https://www.apple.com/uk/shop/iphone/iphone-upgrade-program

new phone every 12 month, instant (£25 excess IIRC) replacement if broken. lost or stolen, new model every time they come outs etc - then get a SIM only deal from EE etc - I get 20gb data, unlimited calls and texts inc international for £13/month

I've had HTC phones for 5 years, aluminium frame, and with a full case they are pretty robust. Takes all the grief I give it from farming and hgv mechanicing, and kids! Decent battery, camera, nice big screen. I've got the HTC oneplus 3
