Is anyone in beef and sheep willing to invest money?

Yes that's right. Just replaced the old Hilux we've had for 16 years for example , bought a 2 year old one instead. How much more would depreciation have cost if changing it every 5 years for example?
I'd rather have control of my own finances and decisions than have to depend on a bank (y)
That's fair enough must of gone well for you I never mentioned buying new. But would you have kept your Hilux 16 years if it had been costing thousands in repairs and maintenance while paying tax because it was quite a good time and then had to swap it when it was 16years old if the job was in a slump?(not sayin job has or hasn't been good in that time just you do what you can when you can

My personal examples are I looked at swapping my tractor at 5years old and the cost to change was high it has been reliable so far if I run it another 5 years I'll have to pay them to take it away to be any worse off cause like you say the new one would be alot to change in 5 years so that stayed. My gator had belt trouble all its life so looked at swapping at two lot to change kept pestering them about belts been recurring fault from new never fixed so got another year of belts out of them other things started to wear looked like needing some money spending on it so got it changed for Polaris for less than swapping to a new gator when it was two year old. Got Polaris on the dreaded 2yr 0% cause I couldn't get it any cheaper buying it out right so what I'm paying to have Polaris for nextb2yrs could be what I would have to pay to maintain gator and in 2yrs time a 2yr old Polaris is hopefully worth more than a 5yr old gator

I can say yes..... because the 16 year old discovery is still here and that has needed a lot of money thrown at it over the years :X3:
I've farmed through 2 foot and mouth outbreaks and bse... Bought a farm the year before bse actually... That was interesting!! So I've known slumps.
