Is the future bright?

Evening. I’ve been listening and reading a lot about brexit and about how this country runs and it’s made me think about what is in store for the future. Many believe that we are doomed after brexit whereas many believe there are great opportunities after brexit. Myself I am very open minded. As a country we voted out so we need to make the best of it. Make it work for us. They may be tough times ahead but maybe if we work for it we can be a successful country. But then again what defines successful.
Also, In my head. The media are the ones who run this country. We have a government but as soon as someone does something wrong or something isn’t popular. The media are quick to chase it to make it a story. Also the media feeds us what they want to feed us. Gone are the days where a politician stood by their beliefs even if they weren’t popular. Nowadays a vote into power is a popularity contest. Telling people what they want to hear.
Then I also think we live in a culture of too many chiefs, not enough Indians. People who aren’t willing to work from the bottom up. Managers telling people how to do their job with no experience of it themselves, all because the textbook said it said it should be like this. For example, building site managers who go straight from university to a site manager job, supermarkets telling a farmer you must do it this way when we know practically it isn’t feasible. Many boss’ have a black and white way of looking at the world where we all know, it’s as far from it as possible.
I am probably miles out with the truth with my way of thinking but I try to be optimistic and open minded with my thoughts but maybe it’s all gonna come crashing around us. Where is the countrys future gonna go. (Apologises for the depressing tone)

I'm the eternal optimist, and remain so because it has served me so well.

I voted to remain in the EU, not because I liked much of the EU policy (I didn't, and still don't), but because I felt the best value was to be leveraged from political influence from within rather than having a hissy-fit and stomping off and taking our toys with us.

However, this nonsense idea that the UK suddenly became a bankrupt rock in the North Atlantic the day we voted for Brexit has to stop. The UK is and will remain a global economic powerhouse, it will continue to be a key financial services domicile and will remain a key trading partner with the rest of the world.

We are certainly going to be living through interesting times, especially in the event of a no-deal Brexit, which looks increasingly likely. This won't stop us prospering though.

The innovative will embrace the changes and leverage the value from the opportunities that exist, the rest will bemoan the hardship they have been 'caused' and blame anyone but themselves.

It's going to be a bit like 2008 all over again, only without the banks to shift the blame on to.

No country in the developed world is any different , each year people want to do less for more, you refer to building industry , it's so highly controlled by hse that the regulations and costs of adhering too are making projects uneconomic to business and therefore are making do with what they have rather than building new, the large national companies are just existing making a 1 percent net or less , but hanging on there spoiling it for private business , with the exception of carillion who were found out.
If Britain can free itself from some of the red tape post brexit compared to the rest of Europe then maybe we can do ok ,

I do totally agree that the ones who will adapt will make it work. I think there are a lot of people who will always be negative about it and try and blame brexit if things don’t work. It won’t work if we don’t try to make it work.
I also think sometimes we have too many people trying to tell us how to do our jobs and not enough people doing the work.
I do have the optimism that we will prosper in the future. Just the negativity you hear constantly grates on me.

You are right but it will never happen, all our red tape doesn’t originate from the EU. We are very adept at producing our own and gold plating regulations at every possibility. Just go on holiday and watch them building anything and notice the lack of any form of H and S or building regs.

I was positive but not so much anymore however it's a great opportunity and I can't wait for the challenge. There will be casualties along the way though. I'm 27 so I will embrace it, got a long road ahead!
