Is there currently a problem with exporting live sheep?

Sunbeam Alpine

Greetings from Belgium! :)

I've seen a couple of customers today who tell me they're unable to get any sheep from the UK this year. They normally buy breeding stock via livestock dealers over here, but the dealers seem not to be able to get any stock at the moment. Is this something to do with Covid - or is there another reason why live exports aren't happening?

Can anyone clarify the situation?
There should be no problem for breeding sheep that have the correct paperwork and all the tests have been completed. Some Labs are doing Covid work so getting Scrapie and other tests done might take longer and Vets have been unwilling to do any work other than emergency stuff.

No problem. The dealers will be able to travel to farms as of last Monday in Wales. SAC confirmed their turn around on scrapie genotyping is 21 days. Vets can take bloods. Carlisle export office operating.

I wouldn’t leave it till after January though.
