Any one got one or is it possible? I want to buy cattle in but also sell lambs twice a week ! Is there a way around this?

Yes, it is. My shed is a DEFRA-approved isolation unit. My local vet came out (paid for by DEFRA), drew a map and took some details. He sent off the form and it got the nod. I have only used it to bring tups on when I'm selling sheep in the autumn. Thinking about it, may just be restricted to breeding males.

I've heard of them for breeding and show livestock but I want one solely to put bought cattle in without affecting the sale of sheep!?

Currently it's only for breeding males and only during a certain time period (August - Nov?:scratchhead:). There are moves afoot to move to an isolation unit for all incoming stock as an option, and doing away with the 6 day standstill. Can't come fast enough IMO.

You might be better off with two holding numbers? Have you some land that could be kept separate?
We have got 4 but still not the answer I'm looking for. cattle have to go on to main holding which pretty much keeps us under the six day standstill!

On Thursday 26th September, we’re holding a webinar for farmers to go through the guidance, actions and detail for the expanded Sustainable Farming Incentive (SFI) offer. This was planned for end of May, but had to be delayed due to the general election. We apologise about that.

Farming and Countryside Programme Director, Janet Hughes will be joined by policy leads working on SFI, and colleagues from the Rural Payment Agency and Catchment Sensitive Farming.

This webinar will be...
