Issuing self billing invoices

Can anyone do this?
I am in a situation where a large National company is refusing to acknowledge my correspondence.
probably because no one there has a clue what I am on about.
I am in a situation where every year I earn a few pounds but it is not mine and I would like to forward it to said company
However to keep books straight I need an invoice. The sum is not large under £50 a year.
I know many would say why worry, but in my mind I am committing fraud. I have sent several letters to themI have exchanged some emails a few years aback but since then nothing. It is only now the issue has come to a head.
So can I raise an invoice in their name and send a copy with the sum to their headquarters?
Can I reclaim the VAT?
again this is all about keeping things right for among others a VAT inspection.
I would rather not mention how this sum has come about, but it is totally above board

AFAIK there's nothing stopping you. I do self bill invoices and not been in trouble so far with my accountant.......

You can't raise an invoice for their company in that companies name, you can however create an invoice from your company or person with a negative amount.

Self billed invoice is fine, but you need to have a written agreement in place from the person you are invoicing/billing before you start to satisfy the revenue for vat purposes.

That is what I suspected thanks. Perhaps Turnips answer is the way to go.
Still do not think I can reclaim the VAT , but for a tenner not really worth worrying about

You need an arrangement with your customer.

If they refuse to invoice you then I doubt there will be any VAT liability because it will not appear on their ledger … whatever the goods/services.
