Your abilities once again astound me for I have been here for only 14 months, and, as I am sure you need not be reminded, there are just 12 in a year, on this planet at least.
Believe me, it feels like decades. You are a one man (which I presume you to be) shitstorm of patent absurdity and prime example of the Dunning Kruger syndrome whether afflicted or not. As such you are a very interesting character.

Err, didn't you just repeat it?

There was an interesting program on R4 the other day saying that our DNA is made up of lots of virus dna/chromosomes. I didn't quite follow the science of it as I was in and out of the tractor, but the presenter laughed at one point and said "so we contain more virus chromosomes (?) than male ones (if we're male!)
I'm sure it's on the sounds app if it's of interest.
It's a lot longer and more involved than the wee snippet I posted, but it was said to have been posted on a medical website.

The human genome contains a lot of apparently non-functional or 'junk' DNA and the remains of very old defunct retroviruses that died out ages ago. The genes for maleness are few that has always been the case. Those of use so afflicted with a tiddly Y chromosome have to make do with a tiny DNA scrap for the purpose unlike the women who get the full blown pair of XX's.

The conclusion is that all of us started out as women until the power of the Y told us different.

I don't know if it is weird or not that 98% of our genome is apparently just hitching along for the ride and a complete waste of energy. This gives rise to the theory that we are somewhat less spectacular as human beings because we are just some bipedal meat-bags whose sole purpose appears to be in carrying this DNA about and making sure it survives into the future.

The other quite sad thing is that we are still descended from weird organism that first crawled out of the mud millions of years ago and share a lot of genetic commonality not just with monkeys with also ubiquitous things like fruit flies.

Interestingly, the study of our mitochondrial DNA (mDNA) that we inherit from our mothers has determined that there is not a lot of diversity in it. Scientists have thus deduced that the human population has been through a big bottleneck about 70,000 years ago.

Just checked (though haven't listened back) - looks like it was the Inside Health program, 9pm, Tuesday evening.

The selfish gene in all its glory.

For those interested in the morphology of viruses. They are a varied bunch.

I wouldn’t trust a word the Chinese said...they are a very secretive nation
Their deaths will be way more than declared

I've not seen anything particularly wrong with the Chinese data in so much as the recording of a mass disease will allow. Every country will be recording this epidemic in slightly differing ways, so it's hard to do effective inter country comparisons. As I have said many times previously the US is the one to watch for under reporting, it's country that can supply world beating individual health care, but it's epidemic control and containment systems has been woefully lacking in recent years as have many developed countries to some extent.

I think the most interesting thing is about the viral load. ie if you are in the company of someone with the disease and is "emitting" and you spend 15 mins with them then you will have a way greater chance of getting something than with someone you walk past for 2 seconds. I'm kind of thinking its like a load of arrows being fired - the body can fight off 20 or so and carry on, but 100 arrows landing is different. Its amazing what the human body can fight off - its what the rise in temperature is for

edit - I'm not certain if viral load is true for this virus - but it is for a lot of them

So, in my wife and my situation, which I imagine is very regular.
We don’t see anyone now, however, she will have to make a dash for the shops at some point. If she receives a glancing blow, she is going to do much better than I will, with the later ongoing blow I will receive.

I guess we dont really know but picking up a few germs as opposed to being in the presence of someone who has it for days might give your immune system a head start
