Grow a thicker shadier privet hedge and trim it more often to thicken it up - ivy is sign there is not enough shade. Some AN should do the trick.

Has anyone had any success with spraying ivy? Got some growing through a fence from a neighbouring, neglected piece of land and can't get at the main stems.

Cut the

Cut of at ground level and wait a few weeks for it to die,, it will loose its grip once dead and it comes of fairly easy,, that's as long as the pebble dashing is sound and doesn't fetch everything of the wall
A few weeks, try over a year! It's left its legs behind and they don't shift! Will post a picture later.
