Ivy and it's removal

Any thoughts on how to remove Ivy from a privet hedge, been dragging it out over the last 2seasons but it's getting the better of me.

Can you cut the ivy off just above ground level, then paint on some round up on the cut ends ?

Only suggestion would be to cut stumps, drill a hole and fill with brush and stump killer.

Only addition i'd suggest is to repeat the dose every 7 days, for 3-4 weeks. Like Jap Knotweed, ivy
can be persistent

Grow a thicker shadier privet hedge and trim it more often to thicken it up - ivy is sign there is not enough shade. Some AN should do the trick.

Herdwick sheep cleaned all the Ivy out of our garden! Why they were in the garden is another matter but they can find their way back to where they got out.

enjoy the ivy...treat it as the hedge and the manky old privet as the thing that holds it up....ivy is a fabulous natural habitat

Cut of at ground level and wait a few weeks for it to die,, it will loose its grip once dead and it comes of fairly easy,, that's as long as the pebble dashing is sound and doesn't fetch everything of the wall

A few weeks, try over a year! It's left its legs behind and they don't shift! Will post a picture later.
