The machines are re-engineered and built in China, Wilkinson Star who brought Cebora and Mosa machines into the country are now the sole importers for the Jasic brand. The machines are one of the most popular brands of machine now in the UK because of the build quality, warrantee and back up support (based in Manchester). Jasic are one of the biggest manufactures in the world and produce machines for well nown welding brands.

"Do they still do the five year warranty"

Hmm firstly I'll still be in the EU after Brexit and didn't deal with the lads in Shropshire, my input was based on my use of the unit in question supplied by a dealer here. When I purchased it, it came with a 5 year warranty.
We had just finished a large factory install where I first came across the brand as it was being used by a small engineering contractor who had hired 10 units. All the other contractors on site were using Kemmpi machines.
All the welders that used them rated them highly. If the grey cells remember correctly it was €600.....................

I bought one of these 180amp Jasic sets after reading about the offer on here.
Had another brand which went bang and was uneconomical to fix.

I had never heard of Jasic before, but after talking to the guys at Welding Supplies Direct felt reassured that they were a decent enough brand.
180amp, 5 year warranty, £165, Whats not to like?.

It only arrived on Monday so have only laid a couple of rods down to try it out.
First impression is big box for such a small welder!!!, all packed in a plastic case with foam inserts, which possibly seems on the flimsy side, It will be ok if its looked after I think.

Welder itself seems well made and solid with a good thick rubbery cable for the 240v in. The cables and earth clamp do seem a bit on the light side but are a decent length, I had homemade thick long leads on my last one so maybe its just my impression.

That said I had it well wound up to try it out and burnt two rods one after the other and there didn't appear to be a heat issue.
It does TIg as well and I'm sorely tempted to buy a TiG torch to see if I can learn myself Tig welding.

So far so good, and assuming it doesn't go bang I reckon its a good buy.

I had other stuff from Welding supplies too and the new Mig torch has transformed my Lincoln Mig welder, I didn't realise how knackered the old one was.

News to me!!!
The old one had really short leads which were a pain if you were making gates or similar. So i took the ones off my old oil cooled set.

Guess the electrode one is about 10ft, the earth a bit less.
This new welder set are not as long as that but much more usable, so not the same need to upgrade.
