Not sure. How do I check correct hole.Do you really mean a '76' 3C? Should be a CAV DPA inj pump? Are you certain you put the governor spring back in the right hole?
Over 2 years later???
When I think about it,it could actually be an '86 JCB 3C........which would have a Perkins engine. Wouldn't be many about if it is!
Or is it a '76 3C with a Leyland 4/98 engine? Same pump type anyway.
Under the pump lid,to lift it right off,you would have disconnected a spring from between the stop lever and a pin that goes through a hole in a flap. There are 3 holes in the flap that the pin can go through. It must be replaced in the hole it originally came out off. Usually the middle hole but not necessarily. The flap must also be very free to move.
Wonder too if it's just not getting enough fuel under load. Did you clean the plastic filter gauze in the fuel inlet end of the pump?
Thanks. Yes I have been using it for 2 years without a governor. I did put the spring in one of the holes but couldn't remember which one. I'm fairly sure that it is an 86 with the reverser with the big lever.Over 2 years later???
