We’re looking to put a toe-tip or hi-tip bucket on our 419s. Is there anyone out there using such a set up? If so what size bucket are you using? It’ll be used mainly for loading well rotted farm yard muck. We can average 2-2.5 tons in our 1.5m3 bucket that is used on our loadall. Want to make the most of the 419 but without the bucket mastering the shovel. How much forward leverage does the bucket create when tipping? Don’t want the shovel backend lifting every time we tip the bucket.

Looked at the clam shell but they only do them up to 8ft wide. The shovel is on 750 tyres so we will need 9ft. Also we will need the extra lift height as the spreaders are over 10ft high
Pretty sure that clamshells don't open very far, more suited to free running material.

We use b a caulkett, give them a call they will tell you what you need. Very well made attachments.

I am sure if you ask the correct companies they will make whatever width clamshell bucket you want.

There is a bigger de-rating effect with a toetip as the bucket and boom combined have more additional 'reach' when extended which puts the load higher and further away.

That said, in my experience of such things, a smaller toe tip bucket will speed up a job no end when compared to a regular bucket with a slightly greater capacity as the cycle time and ease of use is altered.

We had our 3 cube pro dig away out on hire on a 419 loading terragators worked away perfect sometimes seen us with the 6 cube on the 434 but it’s a bit on the big side for the job

have a 1m3 toe tip on a 3cx but use if for dung and grain but you can get a fair rock on when the dung comes out in one go so I would scale the bucket with this in mind but if is the material flows like grain you can go closer for a bigger bucket

Have used a fair size toe tip on a 419S loading rear discharge spreaders with FYM and chicken poo, no issues. Might need to be a bit weary of your back end with heavy chicken sh1t.

Find you can put a much better, more tidy load on with a top tip as you can crowd the bucket forward as well as using the toe tip to dump the load straight on top and over and lift it straight up rather than spilling all over both sides.
