hi, I have bought a jcb 526s, but have just realised that there has been a poor repair done on the diesel tank and there is diesel leaking from round the outlet, what would be the best thing to seal this, it is a steel outlet going onto the plastic tank.

If its a perkins engine in it make sure the fuel tank doesnt get pressurized by the turbo due to a perished rubber diaphragm in the injector pump which will be adding to your troubles.
Maybe melt some plastic over the crack or hole with a soldering iron but make sure its clean first what ever repair you attempt.

its a jcb engine in the shovel, it's just around we're the outlet meets the plastic tank

I have used the Very Sticky Black Windowscreen Glue for repairing JCB Plastic tanks in the past, ,but everything has to be super clean, dry, and the Black Glue has to be up to temperature so it sticks and can be moulded into the leaking area a- it needs to cure before refilling - worth a try if it is only a small leak.

Windscreen adhesive or panel bonder otherwise known as PU sealer. Ebay will have loads as will any local motor factor or windscreen place.
Tiger seal is good so people say but i think theyer all about the same. Nasty black sticky stuff gets everywhere and hard to get off hands etc. Dont know how good it is with diesel but might be okay for a while.

Like i said before make sure your tank isnt getting pressure in it making it leak worse. Manitou changed the filler caps on there machines to releave this pressure if diaphragm perished. On some manitous the plastic tank would bulge out and wheel would rub a hole in it hense a new type filler cap!

As ACE says, lots of different types available, very sticky, but cleanliness is the secret, no residue of diesel or oil, and try to rough the surface up with a wire brush or something to give the sticky black something to grip on, dry it off with a hot air gun of similar so it is dry and the area warm so the warm sticky glue can stick, drop the tube in a boiled kettle before opening so the glue is very flexible, best of luck

Maybe but not normally on a perkins. Yours is a jcb so a little different but still the same style delphi pump. Abit less likely to perish on later ones as rubber changed i think but was and still is common as muck on the old 1000 series perkins.

It would normally affect power as no extra fuel when turbo on boost and wouldnt get to full boost from turbo due to lack on extra fuel so a bit of a cycle. Its a but like driving a non turbo version.

Aww right ok, When I was buying at the shovel he told me that there was a we rubber diaphram changed in the pump, maybe this has caused the leak round the out let of the tank
