JCB 531.70 hand brake cable

Think I have a broken hand brake cable.Movement at the lever but no resistance all of a sudden. Or are they prone to something breaking inside? What's involved. Looks to be internal at the bottom end. TIA

I had one break in mine and had a fitter out.was not a huge job but cable ends above front axle or there about and it was very fiddly from what I recall.take the cover above axle of and have a look.littke hands are an advantage

This one goes into the transmission not the axle

Looking back yes you are correct.lift one of the bolt on covers and take a look

Drain the transmission oil out first?
I know a lad that fitted cable got covered in oil cause took plate off handbrake with out draining oil first? then for some reason didnt refill it after. Few weeks later transmission dropped bearings out?‍ expensive lesson. True story?

On his i believe it was yes, broke the end off i think.

Sorted. Plate on gearbox above oil level so no need to drain any oil out. Worst job feeding new cable thro grommet in chassis between cab floor and fuel tank.

You sure box isnt low in oil already?
