Jcb fastrac 185-65 fuel problem

I have a 185 and have been having a issue with the fuel running back I noticed if you open the fuel tank there's a vacum from the tank. If when you park it you release the vacum it will start again fine the next day if not you need to bleed it. Today I removed the plastic 1 way valve that's in the vent line from the tank it's on the bulkhead below the windscreen. The odd thing I found is the 1 way valve will let air out but it will not let air in I thought it would be the other way round as to let air in normally you get vacum in a tank not pressure? Should the cap maybe vent?

That's what I was thinking but it won't fit onto the hoses the other way round as I would say it's 8mm on the 1 side and 6mm on the other unless someone has changed the hose at 1 time but al check tommorrow what size the fitting is on the top of the tank. I take it the 1 way valve when fitted the right way should let air in to stop vacum and stop diesel going up the pipe when the tank is full?

I've not had it that long but no it looks like original cap as it has the chain on it to stop you loosing it. Am going to turn the 1 way valve round am sure it's the wrong way round

I've worked that out but my breather has a 1 way valve that won't let air in it the direction it works in would let pressure out if the tank was to expand in hot weather. The small valve is 8mm on the 1 end and 6mm on the other so it's not as simple as turning it round the breather pipe coming up from the tank is 8mm and is original I'm only wondering today should the fuel cap vent maybe it works the opposite way and let air in when there's vacum. Easiest solution is to take the valve off but I'm not sure would fuel manage to go up breather pipe if tank was full and sloshing around.

Manitou mla 628 has a tank breather on a 8mm pipe I think.

Its a brass filter gauze type thing so lets air in and out but would not let fuel though with it being about 12" above the tank.

I would bin that valve you have and find something on ebay. I would want tank to vent both ways as is boost diaphragm ever failed turbo would pressure tank and on a hot day proberly balloon it out like manitou used to till they changed the filler cap.

I was thinking of putting a small inline filter on it am sure that would do. On the end of the valve there's a rubber hose that turns 90 degrees and points back down it's probably about a foot above the tank too

Check the fuel cap as said before, lost the fuel cap to our JCB loadall and replaced it with a good spare for one of the tractors. Started to have problems, JCB should have a vented fuel cap tractors have a 2 way breather. Says on underside of cap, 'vented' or 'not vented'.

Have you fixed it ?
Eh yes and no I removed the 1 way valve out of the breather that would let the tank vent out the way and I think my fuel cap should vent to let air in but with the valve removed it's venting both ways occasionally the fuel still runs back and is hard to start but most of the time it's fine. I've got a really annoying leak from my fuel tank and it's from the drain bung but it's not leaking round the thread it's the metal insert in the plastic tank that's leaking when I had the tank off to clean it I thought a new copper washer was going to be the cure but realised once full with diesel it's round the insert. I could have used sealer on it if I'd known before the diesel went back in

Mine is been naughty, starts fine then splutters to a stop then hard to start but runs fine after that, haven't looked yet been too busy.
