JCB js130 overheat warning

Our yr 2000 js130 told me it was overheating today when draining. It has done this once before, again when draining so not working that hard but running full revs.

Had the machine 9 months or so but isn't worked that often.

When i opened the rad cap it certainly wasn't boiling. We bit of pressure but not too much. Fuild was expanded against cap. Plenty coolant in system.

I got my infrared sensor so next time warning came on checked top of rad, top hose and top of pump all showing 60-70 degrees. How hot is too hot for an external reading?

I am thinking dodgy sensor or wiring. Machine has done 10000hrs.

Is one of these the temp sensor.

Any help appreciated.

Anybody got recommendations for part suppliers. Need a new exhaust and some other bits and bobs too.

Cheers Kenny

Disconnect the wires and see if it stops? Normally a single wire temp sensor will set the light or gauge off if you touch it to earth so I’d have a go at that you could have the wire rubbing somewhere to earth and that’s setting it off

Is the gauge all the way to the top or is it just a warning symbol? Early machines are prone to getting crap between the radiators.
Jcb are cheapest for parts.

Gauge goes up too but it does not seem that hot. Certainly not boiling.

Did it this morning after just sitting iding for a while and scraping a couple of drains.

I will look between rads and probably get a new sensor.

Does anyone know what a normal reading for a infrared thermometer would be at the top of rad?
