JCB TM310s misfiring/injector issues

can you swop 2 of the injectors to move the problem?

Erm, probably, haven’t a clue what sort of job it is and, having never removed an injector myself, not really something I fancy. The machine needs to work every day now it’s winter so I’ll gamble on a new one sorting the issue. Pretty much on the hours everyone reckons injectors go to heaven in this machine anyway.

just thought if you swopped them and get a code for the different cylinder you could be sure rather than throwing parts at it

Would it be as easy as this? Never having done it before, it would appear the horror stories you hear don’t apply here and the injectors just pull out of a sleeve easy peesey, plonk a new seal/o ring on a jobs a good’un?

Update: the lads came out to take a look and it actually misbehaved when they were here. Had a close look at the plug on the injector and thought one of the pins was sliding in the plug because the barb was bent. I didn’t see it at the time nor since as, yes you’ve guessed it, the machine is now fine!

I’m a bit sceptical to be fair. Wondering if a dab of loctite in the plug will bond the contacts enough to make a decent contact. If that doesn’t work I’m going to try and track down an old loom and do a cut and shut with the soldering iron. If that doesn’t work they’re ringing me with a price.

How much do you reckon for a new loom? :woot: I don’t know the answer yet.

Buy the plugs of rscomponents(y)
Make your own ends(y)

Good call. Though not from RS (their website is a disaster when trying to find a spurious part!), available on eBay for a little as 5 quid. Official channels are about £36 and they inform soldering the new tails to the loom should not cause any grief at all. :sneaky:

pull the pin out the plug and bend the barb back out , push the pin back in till it clicks back in securely unless something is broke off

Yes, that’d be the fix when it starts stuttering again. Since the jcb men visited it hasn’t been any trouble........yet. I’ll be giving the plug a good investigation myself especially when I have a spare so I can replace it If necessary.

Are they Delphi CR injectors?

Don’t have a clue to be fair I think the number could be r105001d off the top of my head. Picture of the plug sent off a Delphi service agent and a replacement is on its way.

Having similar issues with my 310, error e730 (injector voltage shorted) so wouldn't start engine.
Tested loom, looks ok. Pin pointed problem to injector 3 (now starts and runs with other 3 injector)
Going to order a new injector tomorrow, unless any other recommendations! Thanks

Seems an odd code. Have you checked the loom for rubbing etc?

Put a zip clip around the plug and the top of the injector to keep the plug snug on the injector as it seems the vibration can make them loose
Done on ours and has been fine since

Back again! Same fault (inj number 1), I didn’t repair the plug as it turned out the chap didn’t actually have stock..... jcb started behaving itself anyway until now.

I now have a new plug but it has some odd crimp/heatshrink connector in the kit. Does anyone know the correct crimper to use or shall I just go with instinct and solder/shrink it?

Those are Chinesium Heatshrink / solder butt connectors in one - I would personally Solder and adhesive-lined-heatshrink the wires as two operations.
