just been to look at a 814 super with a broken main arm ( broke just back from where the dipper attachs) it should weld up and plate rest of the digger isn’t bad 12,000 hours what’s it worth? Really only breaking money as it stands I’d of thought?

Undercarriage looks okay plenty of life in it, she started straight up anyway, ram isn’t bent from what I could see, isn’t the boom on a 805 different as they don’t have the power slide? Il see what I can get it for it’s local I don’t really need a 14t digger but I struggle to refuse a project :D
As far as I know both have the same boom, definitely sliding boom on 805

Sorry, just seen this.
Yes they are my kinda machine:)
What year is it?
Check for ‘nod’ in the slew ring at those hours, you can expect a little, but it’s not good to have too much, if it’s an early one, then you can inspect the slew gear through a plate on the superstructure base plate, next to the lift rams, check the teeth are all there, and also for excessive wear. We had one that loved breaking the teeth off! If it’s a later model, with grey cab, then it’s likely got the extended cowling in front of the rad, unfortunately you have to take this off to get to the inspection plate.

Check it tracks straight, if it wanders, then it’s likely the rotary coupling needs resealing.

You say undercarriage looks ok? It will have been done at some point, at those hours, and it depends to what degree? Make sure the bushes are good and the sprockets not to pointy, and that the bottom rollers aren’t worn and clipping the the chains.

Be nice if the power slide works, IMO they are a fantastic tool, but the power slide, and the advantages it brings, are a big part of their appeal, so if it’s welded up, then it’s like having one arm pinned behind your back!

Be interesting to see where it’s broken? You’d probably pick up a secondhand boom for not a lot, several places to try, Vicary Plant Sales, Eric Warburtons, C W Good & Son

Hope that helps a little :)
