I have an old 3cx and I have discovered that the oil is missing from the bottom box where the slew rack runs. I tried filling it with EP90 bit it wouldn't go in.
Probing with a rod in the filler hole it seems to have grease in it.
Is this right.

It may have been filled with grease if the seal has gone

That could be a reason. I have been replacing a lot of seals including the slew seals. When I took the bottom plate off there was no oil or grease. Just some crude on the plate.

They usually loose the oil as the water seeps in through a bad seal A mix of grease and gear oil might be best?

I was told that before when I had a 1976 machine.
Any ideas on how to get the grease oil mixture in.

Put the grease in with the plate off and top up with oil through the filler.
