Jd 1365 mower

quite simple , how do I tell if the mower is a 540 or 1000 pto driven? no stickers on it and no manual come with it. its a 2011 build got a standard 6 spline shaft

Fire it up in 540 and listen if sings out or sounds like its only idling

If it doesn’t cut worth for sh!t in 540 then it’s a 1000!

It runs up and sounds nice in540 but isn’t cutting as smooth as a set of triple Kuhns in the same field. (new blades fitted)

WARNING. Nobody should ever go near any moving mower bed.

But l often wondered what rpm the disc actually spins at?
I expect all makes are similar speed.

I've never seen a 1000rpm 1365, unless it was an option. You should know by the noise of it in 540, failing that try to start it in 1000rpm, if the tractor stalls it's definitely 540

If it isn't cutting clean you maybe just need to lower the arms or tip the bed forward a bit. There are 3 sets of holes in the big outer skids for height adjustment

A neighbour bought a secondhand 1365 thisyear and it's a 1000 speed , he started mowing in 540 and was wondering why it was mowing so poorly.

Are they not like the Kuhn in that you can turn the bottom gearbox round on the gyro headstock and drive it with 540, or 1000rpm to suit your tractor??
Pull out a pin, swivel round, swap the guard and shaft round jobs good.

Well it stalled the tractor in 1000 and run a nice in 540. Must have been the way the grass was lying perhaps .
