JD 6320 Oil pressure light

Hi, the engine oil pressure light on our 6320 start flickering a few months ago, only happened once the machine was properly warmed through. Checked the pump pressure and was getting 35psi (tractor had been running for 5min prior). Replaced the sensor along with a full service, now the light comes on once the tractor is warm, and is a stronger signal than the original issue. It will go out with some rev on the engine and return as soon as it’s allowed to idle….. any ideas? Feel like it electrical but the connection to temp and revs has me a bit worried to use the machine as usual.

You've done it wrong. Go back and re-test it properly with the engine at operating temperature, make sure you take the reading from the same location as the oil pressure switch.

Is this a Premium tractor or a Standard version??
Have you tested it properly at operating temperature with a pressure gauge in place of the pressure sensor???

It’s a SE with low profile cab, 5600hrs and 19 years old. JD garage has been called, it’s not been looked at yet to my knowledge. That’s the port it was tested from last time.

Had it tested today, across temps / rev range, giving up to 90psi at peak, and no drop when idle and warning lights flashing. They found a brown wire feeding into the main loom with brittle plastic wrap. They’ve wrapped with insulation tape that’s stopped the warning light. Thanks for the advice, gave me the push on to chase the issue.
