got a new starter from my main dealer for my 6400 it all fits but there isn't a place for the starter relay to bolt onto the end,

a picture might be helpful?

There is a higher powered starter from JD available but its nothing unique to JD its an Iskra gear reduction. you may have one of these in which case you will be better off just bolt the relay some were else?

Well if it works and you are happy levae it alone and fit the relay elsewhere. There are loads of different starters with teeny tiny differences so the right one will be available, maybe just not on the shelf. Make sure you have a quick spinner though. I am not sure if we have a gear reducted on our 6400, I think it is a 9 volt so it turns quicker, or so they told me. Maybe it's rubbish, only thing I know it's a quicker spinning one then the original and it needs it along with the biggest fitting battery.
