What is the best way to remove the 'top hat' on the drive side?
Do you need the bed or mower raised?
Do you need to remove the drive shaft?
Do you need to remove the donut or merely disconnect it on one side?
I'm trying to remove it for a spare and the mower is 'tucked away' for the winter and is in an awkward corner with limited space to move!!

Any advice is appreciated 👍

I've been asleep a few times since had one apart. I think you can get to the drive mounting bolts with a slim spanner but I'm not sure you'll have a lot of luck actually undoing them. I believe you're supposed to lift the gearbox to give a bit more space to get the shaft out but we managed it without..... might have been something to do with requiring the gas axe to cut the bolts off at least one drive flanges.
here's the pictures if you haven't seen them already.
