John Deere 2130 - suitable for hedgecutting ?

Hi, We have a venerable old john deere 2130, someone has suggested getting a small hedge cutter (not compact) for a bit of light maintainance work.
The rear linkage seems pretty loose to me, they lift implements just fine but I can lift the arms higher by hand.
Would'nt the hedge cutter just flop over, Certainly not my area of knowledge but is this sort of design supposed to have a frame to the chassis?
So.. is this older machine suitable for any type of hedgcutter?
Also should I be able to lift the linkage, like its single acting or something ?? I guess I should check for a lever for float or something... but I'm away from the yard for a week and just wanted to get some clarity on the whole idea. :)
Thanks, j.

I don't much about the JD but you will be able to lift the arms beyond where they are sitting at any one point. The arms are linked by the top cross shaft so that both arms move together. Wear in the links will show up using a hedge trimmer. The hedge trimmer should have adjustable links/frame of some form to brace/carry from close to lower link attachments to the top link jaw on the tractor. You might need a different top link or perhaps there is one with the hedger?

I bought a pa93 tried to put on our 2140jd bent lift rod when extended out (could not stop twisting) also wear in bottom lower link sensing shaft caused seals to leak other than that she handled hedger well end result put on 3350

I have been using a Bomford axle mount hedgecutter (Supertrim?) on a 2030 for years with no problems - really doesn't take long to fit when you get used to it. I turn the rear wheels round to increase the track a bit.

Probably a better option on a smaller tractor.

Thanks guys..that really helps. I'll start by sorting out the loose linkage and keep my eye out for a small cutter. Certainly the axle mount sounds like a good idea but most of the second hand units turning up are usually without bracketry. Good to know running a cutter on a 2130 is a viable option though. J.
