Hi lads, I’m recently putting 2 new brake pipes on my john Deere 3350 for left and right brake pedal, I’m after bleeding the brakes on the tractor and all was grand brakes were fine steering was fine, left it a few days and today the steering was gone all hard and I struggled to steer it across the yard and the brakes weren’t working great either, the tractor has back end oil in it. Any ideas thanks

Welcome to the wonders of John Deere hydraulics. Usually get to 5000 hours and then due to internal leakage most likely though the splitter clutch piston seals when you select high, the transmission oil pump can’t keep up and the main pump gets starved of supply and you lose steering and other hydraulic services.
If the problem goes away when you select splitter low then it’s the splitter clutch piston seals leaking.

Any ideas how to check this then?

Had this on our 3050. on the side of the transmission there is a large plug (32-34mm ish) with a smaller plug in the center of it. its a pressure relief valve and it had a piece of crap in it holding it open. many years ago cant remember what side it was on. oil will flow when you remove it but not too fast, have someone with you to put there hand over the hole.

Thanks, had u any problems with ur lank arms lifting?

👍 only thing working for me is the brakes if I pump the small bit, I’ll try what u said tomorrow thanks

Do your spools work still can you get a trailer to check? I had the internal lift cylinder seals go this spring, steering was hard but worked and spools were fine so had to get cab off and into top of gearbox to take cylinder out and re-seal piston.
